It is with deep regret that I must inform you of the passing of Ivan Batagelj, S54A on 10 February 2015. Ivan was a past President of Zveza Radioamaterjev Slovenije (ZRS).

Ivan Batagelj, S54A (1952 – 10 February 2015)Ivan was born in 1952 in Idrija. As a young boy, he was a member of the Scout organization and there he was very interested in signalling. This curiosity led to a course for amateur radio in early October 1966. In 1967, he passed the exam for the then third class license. His first QSO in 1967 was with YU2LA and his first DX with W4YEA the same year. In 1969, he did the examination for the second-class license and after working 102 DXCC entities got his first personal call sign YU3TBG. In the following years, he used the following call signs: 1984 - YU3MM, 1992 - S58MM and 1994 - S54A. Between 1981 and 1983, he was active on several occasions from YI1BGD, the radio club in Avra Park in Baghdad.

Ivan was a member of the S59CST radio club and served as treasurer, a member of the Board of Directors during 1987 and 1989, and President. From 1995, Ivan was also a board member of the SRC and served as President of SRC.Ivan annually appeared in the Top 10 on the CQ WW WPX and other competitions. He had 307 DXCC entities confirm. His favourite band was 160 metres and he enjoyed working CW. Ivan was a member of the SCC and OT SRC.
